Adverts, adverts everywhere: Capturing young people’s voices on junk food marketing

In the spring and summer of 2023, the Alliance, in partnership with CRUK and the MRC/CSO Unit at the University of Glasgow, held focus groups with young people aged 11-16 in the Glasgow area about their daily experiences with food marketing. The young people took pictures of and discussed the marketing they see in their daily lives. The takeaway: food marketing is everywhere, all the time, and focussed on foods high in fat, sugar, and salt.

 

In partnership with the young people and media production group Media Co-Op, we created a video so their voices could be heard by MSPs and other key policymakers.
