Our Comment on the Government's Programme for Scotland 2019-20

We are delighted that there is a commitment to legislate on restricting food promotions in the Government's Programme for Scotland 2019-20. It will be vital that this Bill will result in less promotions of HFSS products and take more steps to enable a healthier food environment in Scotland.

We look forward to working with the Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing and his officials to build on the commitment to introduce legislation to restrict HFSS promotions in 2020. Restriction is needed across all types of price promotions (multi-buys, temporary price reductions and extra free) on HFSS products. This is an important step in creating a Scotland where everyone can enjoy a healthy weight.
